This work is short and well written The point of view is a young German boy whose parents fled the Russian advance during WWII and the aftermath of their lives As another reviewer pointed out it is an allegory of political forces which clashed together in that maelstrom I enjoyed the book but one short part was difficult to read For people interested in history this book provides a different point of view but the characters are not well developed

I don't even have words for this book It had potential to be good even great The story was there the writing was there but I didn't get it I don't feel like the bulk of the book was even about the story I was promised on the inside flap I am sure that this review of Lost will get me a lot of haters since it was critically acclaimedI just didn't get lost in the story and that is what for me defines a good book
